Our Farm

Inspired by the Shakers dedication to building harmonious community through Spirit, beauty, mutual care and innovation, our vision brings together art, science, and a sacred appreciation of Nature  to sustain our community with nutritious organic food while promoting a more intimate understanding of our inter-dependence with nature through our educational mission.

In 2011, Erin Stack with support from her husband Michael and their teenage girls Tara and Izzy, purchased the original farm located near the banks of the Merrimack river in West Newbury from her dear friends and mentors Bonnie Silva and Russ Barry (founders of the Greater Newburyport CSA). In 2013, Niall and Katie Robinson (friends of Erin through their environmental activism in Newburyport) bought the 15.8 acre farm in need of tender loving care in Newbury. Niall and Katie are partnering with Erin to make New Harmony Farm, LLC a 2 field, 2 family farm. Erin is the farm manager of both fields and both families are excited as we develop the farm and increase our environmental education programs.

Although New Harmony Farm is the only certified organic CSA and farm stand  in the Newburyport area, our farm is taking the tenets of organic practice to an even higher level through our commitment to working with Nature through integrating permaculture principles with biological growing practices to heal and support  a vital farm ecosystem that  is highly productive, beautiful, and beneficial to our local wild life. We  nurture  our crops'  immune systems through optimal nutrition and soil building  to cultivate nutritious, flavor dense and chemical free vegetables, flowers, and herbs  grown in a most earth friendly way.

New Harmony Farm, offers Summer, Fall, and Winter CSA harvest shares. Our  Summer CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), runs 18 weeks runs June through mid October. As part of our mission to educate and promote biodiversity we offer a wide variety of heirloom, unusual, and native vegetables along with delicious recipes to more fully enjoy our bounty. We also offer a pick-your-own herb and flower share at our Newbury Farm gardens.

New Harmony Farm also has a self-serve farm stand featuring all our own certified organic produce (a few items that we do bring in such as certified organic corn from central MA will list the farm it came from).

Regenerative Agriculture- Healing our Ecosystem

We see our farm as an inter-species healing center. We are working towards restoring a healthy soil system through minimal tillage, multi-species cover-cropping, soil mineralization, and introducing beneficial microorganisms. We are increasing the biodiversity of the farm through  perennial and native annual  plantings that will  increase  vital habitat for pollinators, butterflies and native fauna.
